Happy Thanksgiving

It's Turkey Day in the USA...and what would Grandma think if you showed up in this? I don't know but I think she's kind of hot. The bra top is slightly odd, but worn with commitment it can work!

Courtney Love called. She wants her dress back.

riotGirl
Remember the whole Riot Grrrl movement? Kathleen Hanna? Well, even if you were just a wee one "back in the day" this girl completely references the mix of tough and innocence that that period exemplified. She just needs to trade in her sandals for a pair of Doc Martens and she'd be perfect for 1993. But then she's pretty perfect for now!

Matchy-match to the max

pinkBLonde
Matching your handbag to your shoes is considered strictly old school and can bring up the dreaded whispers of being too "matchy-match". No one wants to look like they tried too hard. So what do we think of hair matching a faux flower? (or vice versa) Trying too hard or really clever?

Retro Diva

_DSC0036-Edit-copy
Going against the miniskirt or short-short trend this girl looks gorgeous in a below the knee cocktail dress kept current with the leopard print accents in the boots and clutch. My favorite thing about her look though is her almost 40s style curls and vivid red lips. Beautiful!

Hello Upper Eastsiders...

k_DSC0136-copy
I purposely saved this photo of Sarah to post today because I thought it was the premiere of the new season of Gossip Girl...and then I was informed that it is in fact the 3rd episode tonight. Where have I been??? (Oh that's right. Out in New York, not watching it on T.V.) Nevertheless although I have serious doubts about Blair at NYU I do love Blair's sassy style. Sarah here has it in spades. Maybe she would befriend poor Blair...but alas Blair is fictional...

More Florals

_DSC0031
I decided to post this photo today because it's a reprieve from the dominance of black. I also love the intricacy of this skirt: the way the fabric drapes in a way that reminds me of a flower...upside down. It's both girlish and sophisticated which is hard to pull off. Well done!

Seen at the Fashion Indie Party

amanda
Fashion Indie had a party tonight at The Gates where we met this adorable designer Amanda Maestas wearing (naturally) a skirt from her own collection. We love the luxe look of this skirt which Amanda said made her feel like a princess. She kept it from being too girly by pairing it with black studded heels and a white tank. Rather brilliant. You can see more of this label, Sinister by Amanda and fellow designer Jerrmaner on their website.

More Cupcakes and Bows

Designer Kristen May Anastasia with friends at her party/trunk show.

What's sexier than high waists and short skirts? Loving how Pat Fields re-invents the eighties with her ode to Sprouse.
