*Fresh Vintage* April 7 - 14

I love getting to drool every week on the newest listings in VFG member's shops, and this week is no exception! As usual, the Fresh Vintage thread offered an array of tasty treats. Here are a few highlights.

Past Perfect Vintage describes this Art Deco beaded silk chiffon set as the best 1920s coat & dress she has ever had. It is a wow.

These cute 50s cigarette pants are new at Bijou Vintage's Artfire studio.

This 70s party dress is so cute, New Old Stock, with tags still attached, and fresh at Some Like It Vintage

As always, stop by the Vintage Fashion Guild forums to see more fabulous Fresh vintage!

Bakelite Baubles & More

What is it about a fun and kitschy wartime plastic that collectors go "gah gah" over? Vibrant colors? Creative carvings? Whimsical designs?

Jewelry, buttons, shoe clips, handbags, and a myriad of products were made from the versatile and popular Bakelite catalin, a cast phenolic resin formulated in the early 1900's, and which flourished in popularity during it's 30's and early 40's hey day.

Here's a sampling of genuine bakelite items from the shops of VFG members.

And Now for Something Different

My, I jump around from era to era here at Past Perfect Vintage. Yesterday our topic was 1880s bustle dresses, today it is 1920s wig cloches. Tomorrow??? Could be the 1980s here. Could be 1987 to be specific. It's part of the fun. I really don't have a favorite period in fashion. Just show me something shiny and detailed and I am happy.

Swim Stars.....Vintage Inspired Suits for Summer

The 20s and 30s are back on the runway and headed to the beach if the pieces recently shown at LA FASHION WEEK, designed by ASHLEY PAIGE, are any indication. Just as in the glamorous deco era, many of her swimsuits may be better suited for beach or poolside lounging than actual swimming, but when you look this fabulous, why get wet?
